![]() Hello. Welcome to my website. My name is Andy Thornton and I am from England, but currently live in New York City. I spent around nine years working in the investment banking industry as a computer programmer. I left that field in October 2006 to continue studying International Affairs at The New School. Since May 2008 I have been working at the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in the Human Development Report office. I am helping them develop a new system to manage their statistical data. I am writing the system in Java. On my site you can find examples of my course work , my CV and blog entries written during my time in Latin America in 2004 and China in 2007 . Aside from this site, I also built the website for my university department and I am involved in managing a blog and wiki for them too. While I was in China in the summer of 2007, I created a site to promote the use of microfinance as a tool for poverty alleviation. I have more recently created two website using Drupal 6.0 - www.mantlethought.org and www.rdwolff.com. Since August 2009, I have been the technology chair of the Microfinance Club of New York , a 501(c)3 organisation in New York City that promotes and organises microfinance events in the city. Since then I have upgraded their web 1.0 website to a drupal 6.0 system. |
